Jesus promises in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.” This “abundant life” refers to rich, spiritual, and satisfying life with God, not necessarily material wealth!
I often reflect on my life and look back on the abundant moments, memories he has given me. What does God’s abundance truly mean? Some things that come to mind are the spiritual fullness in my life. A deep meaningful relationship with Christ, bringing joy, peace, and strength. It’s a world beyond riches, it’s not about material possessions, but a rich, satisfying life beyond what life offers.
It’s about the moments he shows up unexpectedly, a life with God is the most powerful, adventurous life you can expect! He is anything but boring… He is constantly leading and directing our lives bringing us the abundance that he promises. God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or can imagine, according to his power that is at work in us (Ephesians 3:20). God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work (2nd Corinthians 9:8).
These moments take me back, moments embedded in my soul that are internalized in my memory. The simple meeting of a woman walking past our table and stopping to say hello, introducing herself. Her name was Beth. I had already seen her walk past our table and noticed her pretty hat she wore at breakfast. She was attending the event that night at Mar a Lago, the fundraiser by The Grey Team to help Veterans in need. I had looked for her at the event that evening but did not see her. I had thought she was standing outside by the shuttle that night, later I ran into the lady whom I thought was her, asked her politely if she was Beth? The woman apologetically said no I am Diane. I felt a stirring of disappointment. It wasn’t until the next morning I headed out to the pool with my coffee and I see Beth sitting with her husband, I presume, and soon after they get up and walk past me. I immediately say “Beth, I looked for you last night!” She answered I was the one with the big hat on, “I still have not grown much hair with my Chemo treatments!” The words hit me, “Chemo” and I realized why she was wearing her hats. In that moment I felt a tug at my spirit and turned around and asked her if she could talk for a moment? Her husband graciously said he would meet her up in the room. Beth and I went to sit down and moments of conversation took place. Holy spirit conversation, the kind you understand to your core that God is directing. As we sat she told me of her diagnosis, Pancreatic cancer stage 3. She said with a gleam in her eye “But I’m still here.” “God must have more for me to do!” The presence of her peace surrounded me, the pure joy she exuberated. In that moment I asked her if we could pray, in that moment I was thanking God for this precious soul he blessed me with. This new found friendship, and this is the purest example of the abundance of life that only God can give.
Beth is not only a beautiful soul but my sister in Christ. God gave me the blessing of our paths crossing not only in this life but the life to come. And this is the testimony: God has given us Eternal life, and this life is his Son (1 John 5:11).
The Abundant life is a life that’s enjoyed now and forever, centered on God’s promises. Take time to listen to your spirit in those divine moments that God has waiting for you, always be in tune and let God direct your steps as he directs you into the Abundant life he has for you on this earth!
